When Benjamin Franklin was asked what kind of government was created for the infant America nation, he said it was a republic and exhorted us to keep it.

America made the transition from a republic to a democracy without anyone so much as screaming or shouting.

A democracy is rule by majority. It serves people well who lack objective truth, beliefs, values, and purpose.

A republic is the rule of law. If laws are arbitrary and egoistically derived, then whatever moral sensibilities extant in the governed will cause them to be changed. But when truth is the father of law and justice then the republic established upon such a foundation of truth will have lasting merit because all good people will support it and enjoy its benefits.

The founders of these United States of America could well have afforded the 2 or 3 % tax which was imposed without representation. They had no material needs which could only be derived through a revolution from the most powerful nation on earth. They had no security or financial issues which could justify endangering their loved ones. What these great men had was a deep belief in a Supreme Being who endowed all men with certain inalienable rights; and the determination to govern themselves by a body of just laws to which all citizens would be subordinate.

Against all odds the 13 Colonies won their independence. Nevertheless, their descendants transformed their epic victory into a defeat! When scoundrels in government provide citizens with financial benefits, their election transforms the fabric of society. As soon as the American voter traded such material benefits for his freedom to dwell under the rule of law, the ephemeral Republic was destroyed. The American Republic could survive only so long as the citizens concerns remained the true administration of justice.

Justice is the apple of the eye of good people and their God. When the liberal, atheistic anarchists of the 1960's began to attack virtue in movies of the antihero and teach proof that God was dead, the succeeding generation of citizens was transformed into a brainwashed self-seeking, self-indulgent egoist who was ready to elect a provider of material benefits. Without core beliefs, the electorate is simply a pagan mass voting for their elected provider of animal benefits and comforts. The spirit of the founders of the Republic is history; a history deleted from the classroom.

Israel was also founded as a Republic. God provided the Law and He and all His servants were subordinate to the Law. Failures led to the degeneration of the people and the destruction of the Republic.

When Saul was king, Samuel the Prophet instructed him to entirely destroy the Amalekites. Instead, Saul saved material spoil and the evil king Agag.
When chastised by Samuel, Saul demonstrated the fragile nature of the republic which he was to have governed. In First Samuel 15:24;Saul said to Samuel,I have sinned; because I transgressed the commandment of the Lord, and your words; because I feared the people, and hearkened to their voice.

This same Biblical text also demonstrates how religion became the substitute for obedience to Law. After Samuel listened to Saul's reason for disobedience, i.e., that the king and his people wanted to keep forbidden things to make sacrifices, the Prophet replies with the great existential critique on religion. "Does the Lord have as great a delight in burnt-offerings and sacrifices, As in hearkening to the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice And to hearken than the fat of rams, For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, And stubbornness is as idolatry and teraphim" (First Samuel 15:22). The Sanhedrin also democratically subverted the Law regarding the decision to purify an earthen oven contrary to the Law which explicitly forbade it. At that incident the rabbis, except for one decenter, Rebbe Eliezer, declared that the Law came not from heaven, but from them. Again democracy ended the Iaraeli Republic because those who were empowered to maintain the Law, elected to legislate their own contradictory laws.

God gave us a material universe and dominion over the world in order to install His Laws into our lives and establish human civilization based on His Laws. He did not want us all to establish different religions as an alternative to obedience and compliance with HIS LAWS!!

This fancy democratic disobedience is what engendered the various religions and the Moslem and Christian Crusades and the wars of conquest waged by the believers who want to save us all from erroneous beliefs and religions. Today the religion of personal physical gratification, i.e., atheism is in the midst of its crusade to dominate the world. The neo-Soviets, Chinese, liberal Europeans, Americans and Israelis have aligned with the second Islamic Crusade to bring down what remains of Judeo-Christian civilization before the coming of the Messiah can reestablish the rule of Law and Justice in Israel and the entire world thereby putting an end to false religions and unjust laws.
